PANEXIN BASIC is a chemically defined serum replacement for the cultivation of adherent and non-adherent cells under serum-free culture conditions or to significantly reduce the amount of serum in cell culture. It supports the growth of many cell types in an optimum manner without any extra handling compared to serum.
Composition
PANEXIN BASIC contains purified proteins, lipids, salts, amino acids, trace elements, hormones and a 3-dimensional substrate release system in an optimized formulation. It contains no growth factors, undefined hydrolysates or peptones.
Suitability
PANEXIN BASIC is suitable for the cultivation of a variety of adherent and non-adherent cells under serum-free culture conditions. Further information can be found in the datasheet.
Advantages
High reproducibility
No extensive batch testing necessary
Simplified downstream process
Low risk of contamination
Design your own defined serum-free or serum-reduced medium!
Special Advantages
PANEXIN BASIC is designed to replace or to reduce serum in the cell culture in a very simple manner. In most cases there is no need to change the basal medium. As Panexin basic is fully chemically defined and contains no peptones or hydrolysates, lot testing is no more necessary. It also allows high reproducibility and a simplified downstream process. Panexin basic contains no growth factors and enables defined proliferation and differentiation of stem cells. Characterization studies of growth factors will obtain more reproducible and clearer results. Panexin basic is also useful to develop sensitive cell-based in vitro tests and coculture procedures.
Applications
As serum replacement or medium supplement to increase the productivity in industrial cellcultures (CHO, MDCK, Vero, Hybridoma etc.)
To avoid the exosoms or stimulatory effects of growth factors in serum
To prevent the overgrowth of the culture by fibroblasts in coculture or in highly differentiatedepithelial primary cultures
To guarantee the reproducibility and sensitivity in cell-based in vitro assays
To generally reduce the amount of serum due to ethical concerns, lot-to-lot variability or highcosts
To replace serum
Panexin basic can be stored and used in the same manner as serum
The performance can be further improved by optimizing the concentration of Panexin or by modifying/changing the basal medium
IMPORTANT: If Trypsin is used to detach adherent cells, it needs to be deactivated with Trypsin inhibitor (1 ml inhibitor per 1 ml Trypsin). Accusate does not need to be inhibited
