It was developed in collaboration with the Institute for Medical Microbiology, Immunology and Hygiene, University of Cologne.

Performances

The OXA-23 K-SeT was evaluated on a collection of 108 clinical isolates with fully characterized resistance mechanisms to beta-lactams by phenotypic and molecular tests (Germany).

This collection included 73 isolates with various resistance mechanisms including 5 class B carbapenemases (NDM and VIM) and 68 isolates from five others OXA-subgroups associated with carbapenem-resistance in A. baumannii: the intrinsic OXA-51-like, OXA-58-like, OXA-40-like, OXA-143-like and OXA-235-like (100% specificity).

All 35 OXA-23 like CPE strains whatever the allelic variant gave a positive signal for OXA-23 with the cassette OXA-23 K-SeT (100% sensitivity).
